Sustainability — Our Environmental & Community Commitments | Luxury Bali Trip

Sustainability & Community Impact

At Luxury Bali Trip, we believe that true luxury is inseparable from responsibility. The stunning beauty of Bali’s landscapes and the richness of its culture are precious resources that we have a duty to protect for future generations. Our commitment to sustainability is not a marketing initiative; it is a fundamental principle that guides every decision we make, from the partners we choose to the experiences we design for your luxury Bali trip.

Our Environmental Commitments (Tri Hita Karana: Palemahan)

Inspired by the Balinese philosophy of Tri Hita Karana—harmony with God, among people, and with the environment—we focus on tangible actions to minimize our ecological footprint.

  • Carbon Offsetting: We partner with a VERRA-certified Indonesian carbon offset provider to calculate and offset 100% of the carbon emissions from our ground transportation. We also offer our clients the option to easily offset their international flight emissions at the time of booking.
  • War on Plastics: We have a strict zero single-use plastic policy. All our vehicles are stocked with reusable glass water bottles. We work exclusively with villas and hotels that have robust policies to eliminate single-use plastics, from straws to bathroom amenities.
  • Supporting Marine & River Conservation: We make an annual financial contribution to Sungai Watch to support their incredible work in cleaning Bali’s rivers. We also partner with the Coral Triangle Center in Sanur, offering our clients exclusive opportunities to learn about marine conservation and participate in their programs.
  • Water Conservation: We prioritize accommodation partners who have implemented certified water-saving technologies and responsible water management practices, a critical issue for the island of Bali.

Our Community Commitments (Tri Hita Karana: Pawongan)

Our business is deeply intertwined with the local community. We are committed to ensuring that tourism provides sustainable, positive benefits to the people of Bali.

  • Local Employment & Fair Wages: We are proud that over 90% of our core team and on-the-ground partners (guides, drivers, chefs) are of Indonesian, and primarily Balinese, origin. We are committed to paying fair, living wages that are significantly above the industry average.
  • Supporting Local Artisans & Entrepreneurs: Our itineraries are designed to directly support local economies. We facilitate private workshops with master artisans in villages like Mas (woodcarving) and Celuk (silversmithing), ensuring the artists are compensated fairly. We prioritize sourcing from local suppliers, from the coffee in our welcome baskets to the textiles in our partner villas.
  • Community Empowerment Projects: A percentage of our annual profits is dedicated to a community development fund managed by our parent, Juara Holding Group. This fund supports educational scholarships for children in rural Balinese villages and provides seed funding for local, sustainable tourism initiatives.
  • Cultural Preservation: We work closely with community leaders (Bendesa Adat) to ensure our visits to temples and villages are conducted with the utmost respect. We educate our guests on proper etiquette and contribute to the maintenance and preservation of the cultural sites we visit. Our approach is detailed in our Editorial Standards.

Beyond carbon: Conserving Bali’s precious natural heritage

Beyond mitigating our carbon footprint, our dedication to environmental stewardship for your luxury Bali trip extends into every facet of our operations, safeguarding the island’s breathtaking biodiversity and delicate ecosystems. We meticulously vet our partner hotels, villas, and resorts for their commitment to sustainable practices, prioritizing those that actively reduce single-use plastics, implement robust waste management systems, and champion water conservation. Imagine waking up in a villa where your morning coffee is brewed with rainwater harvested on-site, or where your toiletries are refillable, locally-sourced, and palm oil-free. Our aim is to ensure your stay leaves only positive ripples, not waste.
