What Do You Need to Self-Drive in Bali?
Self-drive in Indonesia has real requirements, and we state them up front because ignoring them can void your insurance.

Every booking includes curated day-routes sent to your WhatsApp — turn-by-turn, with photo stops and trusted lunch spots. Two favorites:
Ubud Loop (approx. 7–8h)
Canggu or Seminyak pickup, then the Tegallalang rice terraces early — before the crowds — a coffee stop in Ubud center, the Campuhan Ridge viewpoint, backroads around Tirta Empul, a curated lunch in Ubud, and a golden-hour drive back through quiet village roads. This is the route that makes people extend their rental.
Coastal Run (approx. 7–8h)
Pickup, Tanah Lot in morning light, west-coast black-sand backroads toward Soka, a seafood lunch stop, return via the Jatiluwih fringe roads through the UNESCO-listed rice landscape, and a sunset finish at a curated cliff or beach point.
Built for two
Both routes suit the Mini’s character: tight, scenic, made for two people and an open mood rather than a tour bus schedule.

Do I need an International Driving Permit to self-drive in Bali?
Yes. Foreign visitors must carry their home license plus an IDP (ASEAN licenses are the exception). Police checks are routine in Denpasar, Kuta, Canggu and Ubud; without an IDP you face fines, possible vehicle impound, and the rental insurance becomes void.

Can someone else drive, or can we hire a driver instead?
Only registered drivers meeting the license and age requirements may drive. If you prefer not to drive, the same Mini Cooper is available with our professional chauffeur at the with-driver daily rate of $795.
